The transformation of Hill court is completed

17/07/2007

East Midlands Housing’s Hill Court development in Bushby, Leicestershire was officially handed over by Loughborough based contractor and developer William Davis Ltd.

Key partners in the scheme unveiled a new name plaque with some of the village’s oldest and youngest residents in attendance, including those who lived on the original development site.

The scheme initially involved the demolition of three blocks of 1970s bedsit style flats before new build work started on the 24 bungalows and apartments for the over 55s. The new homes will be available for rent or shared ownership.

The innovative scheme also includes a new doctors’ surgery and community resource centre which will provide vital facilities for the entire village.

Guy Higgins, managing director, William Davis said “We are delighted that the Hill Court project is now up and running and would like to extend our gratitude to the residents of Bushby for their support during the construction process.

“This scheme has been testament to the true value of community engagement, from the poster competition held earlier in the year through to the Christmas carol service and finally the burial of the time capsule. The level of commitment and co-operation we have received has been remarkable.”

“This new development has transformed a site that had become an eyesore in recent years. The previous development no longer met modern housing needs while this scheme provides high quality affordable accommodation as well as facilities for the whole village.”
